In an article in the ASCP from the Truman Medical Centre in Kansas, CKMB testing does not add value to information available from the troponin assay and can be removed from the test menu. I couldn’t agree more.
While deemphasizing the need for CK-MB tests from 2007 through 2013 and dropping it from panels the number decreased from 12000 to 150 per year.
