    A study recently published in the British Journal of Cancer found that SV40 micro-RNAs are not likely to contribute to the development of malignant mesothelioma tumors. Malignant mesothelioma is a rare cancer caused almost exclusively by asbestos exposure. The cancer is known for its aggressive nature and is difficult to treat. No cure currently exists, but a number of mesothelioma patients who are diagnosed early may qualify for a combination of aggressive therapies, such as chemotherapy, surgery and radiation.
